PatientWise has been designed to provide descriptions of medical conditions and treatments to patients. It allows General Practitioners to reinforce their verbal consultation with patients by giving them background information printed either from the software version of the product or photocopied from the loose-leaf version.

PatientWise, which is a loose-leaf and software product, contains information on 400 different conditions and treatments with disorders being grouped into chapters by subject areas. Each disorder is described to a set format:

  • What is it?
  • How does it occur?
  • Why does it occur?
  • What does treatment /management involve?
  • What to watch out for during treatment
  • What to watch out for after treatment
  • What would happen if the condition was not treated?
  • What is involved for family and friends?
  • Self-help groups

There are sections on travel medicine, diet and nutrition and information on drugs and their actions. In addition PatientWise contains 13 line diagrams of different parts of the body to allow a better explanation of conditions.

For a full breakdown of the contents please click on the contents button, whilst you can see four full pages and a diagram from PatientWise by clicking on the sample disorders button.

PatientWise has been endorsed by The Patient Association, The National Association of Fundholding Practices, The Royal College of Nursing and Patients themselves.
